Suna ::
bCHptd Highlanders Sunawavi-O-Zion
sire: Shenadoah-Zion's Silver Bullet
dam: Zion's Priceless Onyx
b. Oct 8, 1999 - Aug 31, 2010
She was the only female in a litter of five. Beautiful little smooth grey sable fluff ball. When placed in my arms at four weeks of age, she hugged me, nuzzled my neck and wagged her tail. Love at first sight! At 9 weeks of age, I thought I was going to lose her. She became very ill. She and I spent the whole weekend nursing her back to health. We went to shows, homecomings, road trips. There were situations that she did not care for, but she was always willing to trust me through them all and I in turn trusted her. I sat with her through her deliveries of three litters of pups. She was a great Mom . The best times were watching her play with those babies when they were a few weeks old. Her tenderness and patience always amazed me. Her name, Sunawavi, is a native American term meaning Spirit of the Wolf. There was always a bit of mystique surrounding Suna, so I believe she was aptly named. Her intuitiveness was uncanny, her willingness to please was unbelievable, the bond between us will never be duplicated by any other. In the beginning, when I had to be away for a few days at a time, she would not eat. That was always upsetting to her caretakers and myself. She did get over that when she discovered that I would return. When the time finally came to say "good bye", it was mutual. She looked at me and I knew. She went peacefully as I sat by her side. My Sunawavi is now whole again and can run amongst those who have gone before her. I believe she visited me last night as I felt her brush against my legs as I was preparing meals for our pack. No other dog was near me, so I know it was her. That was her favorite time of day. So I say farewell to my Sunawavi, till we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge. Run with the spirits for whom you were named after. |

Duncan :: bCHptd Highlanders Duncan McCleod
sire: GV.abCH Hilltop's Triton King of Zion
dam: Zion's A-Trib-To Storm'n Terra
b. July 3, 1998 - Dec 3, 2008
Duncan was the only dog that we had here that felt that everyone came to see Him. He always had a friendly "woof" and a wet nose and kiss for all who ventured here and at the same time was ever vigil of all that happened around the property. Duncan was always kind to all the other pack members and loved all the puppies that we brought home and whelped here. He will be greatly missed. They are never with us long enough and some have more impact on us than others. Duncan was always "my boy" and his absence is sorely felt. |

To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden,
where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace." - Milan Kundera
